GTC Presentation Online

The presentation at this year’s GTC over Maya and Max integration for 2015 can be found here: NVIDIA Rendering Innovations within Autodesk Maya and 3ds Max

In this presentation we talk about the integration in 2015 products as well as future directions including a UI mockup for Maya 2015 to be made available later. This UI would give you simple access to:

  • Layering Library Quality settings
  • Light Importance Quality settings
  • “Unified GI” making use of the new Global Illumination algorithm on either the GPU or CPU

  1. excellent well done guys! Really good work and good news

    • Too sad there was no live usage of mental ray in maya.
There is the part with 0×1, but nothing with mental ray, only sad screenshots.
I would love to see the new GI GPU working.
Also, I would have loved a video record of the presentation.

      • There wasn’t enough time in the presentation to do a live example for everything unfortunately. We each had 7 minutes or less to talk on Maya to leave time for questions.

  2. Is there a record of the question/answer part ? that would also be really interesting !

  3. Thanks David, that video was awesome! I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all the work you put into this site. I still have an incredible amount to learn but the information you provide here has been instrumental for me in both acquiring new skills/knowledge and driving my passion for actually wanting to learn more.
These next updates have me very excited!

    • Thanks James! Hopefully we can get more in depth into the advanced features once Maya is released and maybe a webinar or something. The new way of dealing with MILA will be a change in how you work. Also, the new GI will be a great feature to play with and get used to. Once it’s completed it should replace the previous methods of indirect lighting (as noted in Bart’s UI concept)

  4. So, how to enable GI GPU in Maya 2015? I’ve tried “GI GPU” “on” in string options and it does nothing.
